How do I calculate my midterm grade?
Add your Exam 1(100 pt max)___________
And add your best 2 of the 3 Tasks we have done so far 10 pt max) ____________
Add in your chapter Mini-Exams for chapters 10, 20, and 14 (30 max) ____________
Add your Homework sets #1- #2 (30 pt max ) _________ Note. I incorrectly had this listed as 24 points earlier.
This equals 170 pts maximum for lecture, which is 3/4 your grade. There are no clicker points in midterm grades!
I was given your percent in lab. I am told that this is:
Safety Quiz (20 points)
Prelab Quizzes for Colligative Properties, Spectrophotometry, Research Project (10 points each)
Safety and Performance (S&P) for Colligative Properties, Spectrophotometry, Research Project Week 1 (10 points each)
Colligative Properties SmartWorksheet (40 points)
Spectrophotometry SmartWorksheet (32 points)
Spectrophotometry Postlab Questions (8 points)
Lab Notebooks for Colligative Properties and Spectrophotometry (3 points each)That is a total of 166 points in Lab. Your score, which was adjusted by 6 points, was then converted to a percent out of 100.
Your lab percent was divided by 100 and multiplied by 56 to give you a number of points out of 56.
(your lab percent and your points from lab out of 56 will be posted on Canvas- All questions on these go to your TA or lab coordinator)
Midterm is composed of 170 lecture points (75.22%) and 56 lab points (24.78%) for a total of 226 possible points at midterm.
Keeping with the normal 10% cutoffs,
you will need the following number of points for each grade:
A =203.4 pts, B =180.8 pts, C = 158.2 pts, D =135.6 pts.
Your final midterm total points out of 226 and your final midterm letter grade will be posted on Canvas.
Since we don't drop any exams at midterm, if you need a memo stating your current average later in the semester, let me know, as this is hardly midway through the 750 pts for lecture that you will have at the end of the course OR the 1000 points for both lab and lecture!
